LAST NIGHT 2

it started off like a normal "school" day although it was more like college rules at rgs with people from both. i think i was having some sort of p.e lesson though as i recall pushing a giant red dumbbell around outside. anyway, after that i found myself chilling in this field with friends and vague friends too, which only added to the authenticity. i was speaking to jack evans for quite a while about the holiday he'd just been on and he was telling me how he hadn't left the hotel room much because of some law or something. and then i realised he was listening to the new gym class heroes album through headphones (not that i've heard it but i just knew it was that at the time) and that's when i noticed there were 4 other boys (i can only remember two other faces, this boy i barely know from rgs and some generic asian kid) all listening to the same song with headphones too. i was impressed so i asked the asian kid how they hooked that up and he just pointed to and mumbled a bit about this insane homemade contraption on the grass that looked like it used to be an old chunky radio with these small metal hooks coming off, with the wires from the headphones wrapped around those. anyway, a little time passed and i planned writing a blog later on about how it's nice to see my friend (jack) still listening to albums and not just the singles chart. then as people were leaving, it turned out the asian kid had used my headphones as part of his giant splitter! so i asked for them back but it was really hard to get them off the metal hook so he was all "ah well you could just wait until tomorrow and i'll sort it out tonight?" but i was like "nah i kinda need them for the journey home." then all in the space of a blink, we transported to my house, it got nasty and it was nighttime!? we were basically having a brawl over the headphones, i remember pushing him to the floor and hitting him in the back lots. anyway, after a few minutes of fighting he was still nowhere near close to giving them up and i didn't want to wake up my mum so i was just like "ok, let's calm down! i have other headphones anyway but why do you want them so badly? are you like, building something with them?!" i can't really remember his answer but as he was talking i was ushering him out of my house, which is when i noticed the lock on my door was partially broken. i whispered "that's weird.." and in my fear rushed, slamming the door shut as he was only about half way through, which i think hurt him quite a bit as he started shouting angrily at me before stopping dead still and looking past my shoulder with a sincerely scared face. i span around, so scared just to see there was nothing unusual there! so to get my own back shouted through the letter box, "yeah it's not safe out there, i'd just get home while you can!" when suddenly a thick fog fell, making it impossible for me to see him or anything outside, until he pressed his skinny palm up against the glass window revealing a tattoo:

A BLOG

pat mcginn is one of my heroes. i haven't fingerboarded once this summer but i think once college starts again i'll pick up where i left off. talking of which, i'm quite excited about the start of college. 1irstly because i enjoy what i do there and i think this year will be even better than the first in terms of freedom, 2econdly because it'll be nice to see people who i haven't over summer and 3hirdly because at the moment i'm feeling a bit floaty like. i think i'm just over this holiday now, before i was excited to be doing anything in vague heat. although, this summer could have been my favourite of all time! if i break it down and think of the three main events (tour, newquay and reading) each were so good and all the stuff in between was pretty much all i could've asked for except for failing my driving test..

but mentioning reading, i've already bought my ticket for 2009! not because i'm concrete set on going next year but just because i hate the stress of getting a ticket, i have the money now and even if i don't go, i'll easily make my money back if not a tidy profit. this year was strange, i can't decide if i preferred it to 2007. i drunk more and saw more bands so in theory it should've been but it was just undeniably different to previous years and i think that's all i can be sure of. my musical highlight was definitely conor oberst and although, admittedly before he played i was hoping he'd play some bright eyes, once they (he and the mystic valley band) started i was thoughtlessly absorbed. the first thing i listened to when i got home was the album and i would recommend it anyone, even though my favourite song from the set is not on there! photos:

IMPULSE BUY

me and charlie went to town today to get her food for reading (heinz soup and numbertti amongst other things) and while we were there we thought we should look in the 99p shop for some camping bargains. however, there was nothing except one measly rain mack and so we headed back to the parked car. on the way there i ushered us through the chiltern centre for fun and was drawn to wilkinson's for some reason? me and charlie both left with all-in-one printer scanner copiers. i don't know why but i guess i kinda wanted one and she kinda needs one for university and for only £29.99 it was probably an ok investment.

POLSKEPTUM

"anyway, after that we went up to see charles' new tattoo. we had to wait around a bit in the shop but it was worth it to see charles now on his way to bodymod enlightenment. his septum is 4mm now. that is fucked. he's got a little white bone thing through it. he looks like something out of a polish apocalypto."

INTENTS

with reading festival only days away me and charlie went to town to buy a new tent as last years now lies in ruins. charlie had her heart set on a pop-up one but i wasn't so convinced as i was basically imagining a wendy house. however, we went to town and while i waited in the sainsburys car park (so that we didn't have to pay for parking) charlie tootled off to blacks and within minutes marched back with a red disk on her back. it was the pop-up tent!

as soon as we got home charlie unzipped her shell and threw it in the air and to my amazement a perfectly (but a little rocking) tent was formed on the grass. we put in a couple pegs and wow. went inside, made out, whatever. but then came the task to put it away, not so easy! charlie wrestled and wrestled but she was too small so she read and read and got bossy and pointed.

we went inside, both pretty happy with our purchase. it felt like we'd bought a house together. hours of fun passed, then we got hungry. charlie wanted pizza and i wanted pasta but then she said she'd pay and sung a song about pizza, so after translating "that red one" to pizza go-go we headed down and ordered up a medium pizza split half vegetarian and half pepperoni. we waited, it came, it rained, we rushed home and i was pleasantly surprised with the taste. 8/10

we got full, watched wife swap and charlie got opinionated. by now i'd had enough time to consider the option of toby's party and decided i better leave before wife swap: the aftermath started. charlie dropped me there, we said our goodbyes and kissed in-front of tom and josh. they took me in and to cut a long story short, i watched hardcore tmnt, listened to the new sta tracks, played guitar hero, played stare me out (rip) with toby and luke, drunk a few mouthfuls of cider and smoked bud with lewis and matt, felt awful for about 20 minutes and then was very sick in a saucepan. i managed to recover over a couple rounds of guitar hero and at about 3am me, matt and lewis decided to walk back to mine (croquettes in hand). 15 minutes and 2 very steep hills later, terry road had never looked so beautiful in all my residential life.

A TO G

i haven't updated this for a while, which normally would be a good indication that i've been busy but i haven't even been busy. just been putting it off i think, partly because i wanted to include some party footage from the other night but was too lazy to upload and edit it. it will surface at some point, that was an amazing night. in regards to other nights, they've been fairly boring. i actually forgot there was a party i said i was going to happening tonight until i read charlie's blog just now where he mentioned it. the cardboard cutouts played very well last night and town was ok too but i still feel like a recluse and increasingly lame. in the reverse, some exciting things are surfacing this week:

a) a new haircut, i say new because it won't be my 2 year old style.
b) potentially filming a new tig video on a yacht.
c) filming more skateboarding.
d) charlie getting back from mexico.
e) my finally arriving love for my untouched but old xbox 360. thanks to a couple of games my friend lent me, although i find them both really hard and just want skate 2.
f) attending a lash out 2012 practice.
g) designing the hw website.

failing my driving test seems like ages ago now but i still think about it every so often and just think, what if i'd passed? how would today be different and so on. i drove for quite a few hours with my dad today. fuck the pastures anyway.

HIDE AND SHRIEK

firstly, this very entry is the reason you just saw that content filter screen. and with that, you know it's gonna get good so please let me tell you the story of a night that will go down in hide and seek/summer history.

it was friday, the 1st of august and i received a group text from matt; "dudes what you up to tonight? got plans for a big game of scary hide and seek in the dark at mine. featuring scary lights and music. it's amazing. you in? xxx" which left me fairly confused but more curious. after talking to other invitees on msn i learned the scary music was ambient black metal, and with that i'm sold. next was to find a lift there. joel said mario would pick me up, weird but ok? after some phone calls turns out joel's also gonna be in the car, fine let's roll at 9:20. before that i wash my hair in the sink (just with water as i'm trying to only use shampoo once every 2 days now, which should be a lot easier once i have it cut short) do a poo, mix myself some vanilla vodka and diet coke and start sipping. i've rushed a bit so i have to wait around for a few minutes. get picked up, ask mario why she's doing this, love joel being drunk talking about how bad cptn obvs ipod is; "she has five blink songs and two of them are the rock show!"

we're greeted with a megaphone at matt's house, mario leaves = no girls allowed. meet and greet everyone in the garden bla bla bla and take it inside for drinking games.

shit gets real way too quick and before we know it everyone's drunk and it's pitch black outside. time for the rules, matt's little brother lays down the law.

first round: this is the view from my hiding place (under the parents bed) but with my ear to the floor i can feel all the vibrations of the black metal and can't stop laughing and get found pretty quickly, not first though!

second round: i hide lying down in a bath but apparently matt's family don't use shower curtains and i'm found first! third round: i'm on and find callum almost instantly crouched by a bin in the kitchen. i stumble across everyone else in time, under beds, in the shower, in cupboards and one boy in the boiler room. fourth round: i go for the downstairs approach and wind up crushed behind a computer desk, blocked in by a chair. it works! fool scans the room and heads upstairs.

end of round and everyone meets, bud break:

and then literally next thing i know, joel and jonny are playing conkers with their ball sacks. sure.

matt was ok with it but when people started rubbing their bums and balls on the furniture/guitar hero guitars he said he didn't really wanna have to see his little brother playing there and have that guilt on his conscience.

oh well.

only naturally, next comes props:

but then jonny introduces that well-known gaming classic, who can put the weirdest thing in their foreskin. first a tampon, then a pencil, a flashing light stick thing and a cigarette (which he's game for lighting).

but dan's late entry wins, a wotsit.

everyone puts their clothes back on, i turn down some cigarettes (fuck deth) and we start the fifth round: i hide in the brother's bedroom wardrobe. and luckily even though our room is the first searched, n00bs under the bed (that's so first round) and desk lose before me.

by this time mario has been back to deliver a new crate for people anyway and so can give me, joel and dan a lift home. only after a bit of trampoline fun though. obviously.

i get home in what feels like 2 minutes and make myself a cheese toasty in my new george foreman (thanks llwwss), head to bed and tell myself i'm not gay or about eight. thanks matt! ♥

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT OK

i need to better myself for myself, i realised there's basically nothing i'm actually proud of from my first college year. so i'm trying to make something every day now and end up with a nice collection by the end of summer perhaps. oh and i had a driving lesson today where i did a mock test. i'm gonna scan in the test sheet sometime, prepare yourself for a touch of mental arithmetic ok?
